How does the revision queue decide when a word is due?
After a correct answer a word comes back after 1 day, then 3 days, then a growing interval. Answering again before it is due does not stretch the interval. A wrong answer brings the word back after about 10 minutes.
What does “mastered” mean?
Mastery is an estimate, not a guarantee. A word is marked mastered after at least three correct answers in a row, including two recalls after a gap of a day or more. Flash-card self-ratings reschedule words but do not count as mastery evidence.
What is the difference between XP and mastery?
XP and streaks reward practice. Mastery and retention measure learning. Your reports keep them separate on purpose.
Can I practise without an account?
Yes — guests can try short practice sessions. Guest answers are not saved to a profile. Create a free account to save words and get a revision plan.
Why was my answer marked wrong?
Every answer is checked on our server against the answer key. The explanation after each question tells you why; if you think a question is wrong, contact us below.
How do I contact support?
Email support@vocabisland.example with your account email and a description. Never send your password.
Privacy
- We collect only what is needed to run your learning: account details, preferences and your practice history.
- Your progress is private to you. Staff analytics use aggregated data.
- You can download all your data or delete your account at any time from Settings.
- Passwords are stored as one-way hashes; sessions use secure, http-only cookies.
