The Laconic Coach
A cricket coach who says little teaches a garrulous team the power of fewer words.
Scene 1
The team was garrulous; they chatted through every practice. Their new coach, Mr. Rao, was laconic. His only instruction on day one: "Watch the ball."
Scene 2
The captain wrote verbose strategy notes, ten pages long. Rao returned them with one line: "Too long. Play."
Scene 3
Rao was tenacious; every evening he made them practise in silence. In the final, the team played with calm focus and won. The jubilant players finally heard Rao say three words: "Well done, team."
